SWIRCA Suds, Wines, & Spirits Fest!

Saturday August 21 will be the annual tasting festival at SWIRCA in Evansville. Come on down to try the many wines, beers, spirits, and food. Local vinters, brewers, and restuarants will be giving samples to some great food and drinks. I will be pouring for Vinture Wine Group. Some of the wines included are Durigutti Malbec, Tohu Sauv Blanc, Sarraco Mascato D'Asti, and some of Indiana's own wines.

Wine Tasting This Friday

Hey everyone I will be hosting a wine tasting at Frontier Liquors on Green River Rd this Friday. Come by and try some wines for the Easter Weekend that I will be pouring. Starts at 4:30 and ends when the wine runs dry!

Saturday wine tasting

Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday to Frontier on Green river for our wine tasting. It went very well and we had a great turnout! We are going to have some specials on some of those wines soon.

Edgewater Grille

Today i got to have lunch at one of my favorite places in the Evansville area. Edgewater Grille in Newburgh! Right on the waterfront in downtown Newburgh, this has some of the best atmosphere around town. I was also able to be joined by my longtime friend Tom Fischer, host of Bourbon Blog! With Jackie as our host, we tried several different wines to go with our lunch. My favorite was the Vinum Chenin Blanc from South Africa. Great with the soup and salad we had. If you are in Evansville and wondering where to go eat, check out Edgewater Grille, only a few minutes up the road in Newburgh.

Fun Times in Chicago

Fine Italian dining in Chicago! I just told you about the bourdoux experience, so don't think I'm crazy when I mention Italian. I got to meet with a supplier of some great Italian wine. chianti is definitely looking good and so is the drink all Italians are drinking like soda, prosecco!

We We! Love the Bourdoux!

Last week I got the opportunity to go to Chicago and taste the 2007 bourdoux! Chateau owners and Winemakers were there to tell us about them! My favorite was probably the Chateau Beychevelle. I was also very impressed with the whites from Bourdoux. They don't get the recognition as their red counterparts but the blends of sauvignon blanc and semilion make some great wines!

Who likes Pinot?

If you are a fan of Pinot Noir, then you know that Oregon and New Zealand are hot right now. If you watch the wine lists for the year than you probably saw a lot of pinots in there. One that you might have seen in Wine Spectator is Tohu from New Zealand. Tohu was rated #92 for the year! And guess what, you can get it right here in Evansville. Check out the Winetree to find this great wine before it is gone.
